Parents are expected to be personally committed to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  Children should be 3 years old by September 1 to attend the 3 year old class. Children should be 4 years old by September 1 to attend the 4/5 year old class.  All children must be potty-trained prior to September 1.  All hearing, vision and physical information must be turned in at the school office before the beginning of school.

Teach me your way, O Lord; I will walk in your truth.   Psalm 86:11

3's Preschool  Our 3’s program is a literacy and social based program.   We focus on one book each time and then do a craft to enhance the book experience.  We also work on counting, and have a Bible story each week.  In addition to time spent at learning centers, we focus on a new nursery rhyme each month, and do different activities for our color of the month.  We have time for outside play to develop each child’s gross motor skills, in addition to working on their fine motor skills in the classroom.  Field trips are also offered.

Our 3’s program promotes language advancement and social interaction.   Through developmentally appropriate experiences in our classroom, your 3 year old will feel successful and enjoy their first school experience.

The requirement for the 3 year old program is that your child must be potty trained, and must be 3 by the beginning of the school year.

4’s Preschool  Our 4’s program includes a theme each week and a mix of age appropriate academics with choice time at learning centers.  Below is a list of some academics included:

Counting—work our way to 50 by the end of the year, also count from 10 down to 0.

Weather—each student gets a turn to be the weather person; we also discuss the seasons.

Singing—days of the week song, months of the year song with Spanish words, learning new songs and motions, help with rhythm.

Zoo-Phonics—learn a new zoo-phonics friend each week, which helps to develop sound recognition for each letter.

Bible Story—sing prayer song and learn a new story each day.

Story Time—listening skills, pre-reading skills (predicting, left to right, author).

Weekly Theme—concepts are learned each week that relate to the theme.

Theme Enrichment—this supports the theme for the week, we either go on a field trip, do experiments, play a game, or do an art project.

Writing—writing all letters of the alphabet, numbers 0-10, their name, writing center.

Art—fine and gross motor development, pre-writing and pre-math skills, creativity sorting/classifying, cutting skills.

Discipline The atmosphere of the preschool classroom will promote love and respect for one another. Classroom rules are simple and specific; they are used to prevent a child from harming himself, others, and property. We attempt to encourage children to feel the desire within themselves to make a proper choice. Positive methods of discipline which encourage the child’s own self-control, self-direction, self-esteem, and cooperation will be emphasized. At times a child may be removed from the others for a quiet talk. There will never be corporal punishment in our preschool. If a problem persists, the teacher will arrange a conference with the child’s parents, and the principal will be notified. If no satisfactory solution can be reached, it will be necessary for the child to be dismissed from preschool.

Snacks Parents are requested to take turns providing snacks for the children. A schedule will be made. Parents who serve as helpers will be able to bring the snack on that day. The parent should bring enough servings for the children, the teacher, and the helper.    Parent should notify the teacher if his/her child has any food allergies. Any child with special dietary requirements will be provided with an appropriate snack in consultation with the child’s parents. The parent helper should remember that every child does not have to love the snack for it to be a success.    Snacks should be nutritious and should include juice or milk. The school will provide paper cups and napkins.

Parent Helper: Although parental participation as a helper is very much encouraged, it is not a requirement for child admission. All parents are invited to help. If a parent’s schedule prevents him/her from helping, that parent should let the classroom teacher know. If a parent has signed up and an emergency arises, that parent is expected to telephone another parent in the class to substitute. The parent-helper should arrive ten minutes prior to the beginning of the session to talk over the day’s activities with the teacher. The parent should also use this time to become acquainted with the duties.

Children not enrolled in preschool are not allowed in the classroom during any session.

Procedures: If Allendale Christian School is canceled because of inclement weather, the preschool will also be canceled. When school is delayed because of inclement weather, the morning preschool session is automatically canceled.

Parents should drop off and pick up their children by entering the west side of the elementary building (by 64th Ave.). Children should arrive no more than five minutes before each session begins. Parents should see that their child is brought directly to the classroom and that an adult is aware of the child’s presence before leaving.

At dismissal, each child is to remain inside the classroom until he is called for by his parent or carpool. For the children’s protection, each child will only be released to the persons whose names appear on the Child Release Card. If there is any change in the person authorized to pick up a child, the parent must send a written note.

Although assistance can be provided, Allendale Christian Preschool is not responsible for carpools established among parents. To help the teacher during dismissal time, parents should inform the teacher of carpool arrangements with other classmates.

If your child will be absent, parents are asked to call the school office before the beginning of the session. This is especially helpful on days when a field trip is scheduled.
