Personal Biography

I am very blessed to have been married 11 years to my husband, Peter. We have three wonderful children, Micah, Annalise, and Nicolaas. We enjoy camping, playing games, and spending time together as a family. We are members of Immanuel CRC in Hudsonville where I am active leading a praise team, directing a kids praise choir, and participating in a variety of small group ministries.

Professional Biography

I graduated in 1988 from Dordt College with a B.A. in Elementary Education with an endorsement in music. My continuing education classes have been taken through Western Michigan University. I am currently studying Education Throught Music with the Richards Institute of Education. I have had six years previous teaching experience. This is my first year teaching music at Allendale Christian

Philosophy Biography

Christian Education is of utmost importance to me as a teacher. The Bible has called us in Proverbs 22:6 to “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” I believe that God has called me to train His children and help guide each child in his learning. The responsibility of being a Christian educator is great as I seek to model Christ’s example for the children. It also means that every child who comes in my classroom is a child of God for which I am responsible. I have been entrusted to teach each child to understand who God is in relationship to our entire world, how He reveals himself to us through our studies, and what it means to reform our world and lives in order to bring about God’s glory.
