Personal Biography

I grew up in McBain, Michigan, a small but wonderful town 100 miles north of Grand Rapids. I married Ryan on December 28, 2007. He is an electrician at Excel Electric in Grandville. We currently live in Hudsonville and are thoroughly enjoying married life together! I am actively involved in various ministries at Fairway CRC in Jenison. In my spare time, I enjoy playing softball, walking, watching sports, traveling, playing piano, reading, and writing letters.

Professional Biography

I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education with minors in math and English from Calvin College. I did my practice teaching in Rehoboth, NM and have been teaching middle school math and language arts at ACS since 2000. I am involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities around school, including coaching girls basketball, keeping the scorebook at boys basketball games, leading Mathcounts, and playing piano for chapels, choir, and anything else that needs a pianist. I am currently taking graduate classes at Western Michigan University.

Philosophy Biography

One of my biggest blessings has been the opportunity to attend
Christian schools from kindergarten through college, and I want my students to
also experience that blessing. I believe that God creates every child in His
image with his or her own unique gifts and strengths. I strive to help my
students further develop those gifts as well as improve their weaknesses. I
also seek to help students see God in the world around them, particularly in
math and English. I believe that while my teaching is important, even more so
is my calling to help my students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ
and come to better understand what it means to live as His child in His kingdom.
