Personal Biography
My wife, Kristen, and I were married in 2003. Since then God has blessed us with four amazing children. Zach is the oldest and is followed by Jaron and then Ava and Ethan, who are twins. Our family lives in Hudsonville and attends Georgetown Christian Reformed Church. Kristen is a Third Grade teacher at Hudsonville Christian School, so our family is very involved in the field of Christian education. We are passionate about our own children and our students knowing and loving our great God.

Professional Biography
I attended Calvin College and received a BA in History, with an emphasis in Secondary Education. Later, I returned to Calvin to receive a MA in Educational Leadership. After completing my undergraduate degree, I taught one semester as a long-term sub at Hudsonville Public High School before being hired by Unity Christian High School. I spent 12 years teaching and coaching at Unity. I began my position as the Administrator at Allendale Christian in the summer of 2012. Recently, I completed a year-long fellowship through the Van Lunen Center, which is a world-class program in Executive Management for administrators in faith-based schools. I consider it to be a great honor and privilege to be a part of the family at Allendale Christian School.

Teaching Philosophy
I believe that all humans are created unique and in the image of God. On this same note, God created all people good. I also believe that God created humans to be whole beings. We are beings that are physical, mental, and spiritual at the same time. The parts can not and should not be separated. My hope for Allendale Christian students is that they could have an educational experience that helps them improve physically and mentally and through both, spiritually. Students should be active participants in education and not passive bystanders. This will help them be more effective kingdom-builders as they encounter the world around them. God does not call us to sit back and watch the world, but to actively go out and make disciples of all nations, to impact the world for God’s Kingdom. Thus, a well-balanced education is crucial in promoting the advancement of each child.
