Mrs. Laura Huisman Third/Fourth Combination
I grew up on a small farm in West Lafayette, Indiana and came to Grand Rapids to attend Calvin College during the school year and to work at Camp Roger during the summer. My husband Ben and I have been married for eleven adventurous years and have two sons. We live in Grand Rapids with our adorable cat, Bostwick; and we are members of Sherman Street Christian Reformed Church. You will often find us working in our yard and garden, participating in church friendship club, hiking, reading, and cooking!
I graduated from Calvin College in 2000 with a degree in elementary and special education. I have previously taught 3rd/4th grade at Oakdale Christian School and 3rd grade at Kelloggsville and Legacy Christian Schools. In 2007, God purposefully brought me here to ACS to teach 4th grade. This will be my second year teaching a 3rd/4th grade combination class.
God is good! He has thoughtfully created me and my students in His incredible image. The wonder and diversity of His creation is revealed to me through the daily interactions, unique abilities, and creative work of my students. My prayer is that I can teach with my words and show with my actions the saving grace of Jesus Christ to each of my students, while challenging them to share Christ’s love with others and to live as servants for the Lord in our world.
