Technology is an on-going project at ACS. With the help of Allendale Communications, our computer teacher, and the technology committee, we work diligently to keep our computer network system up-to-date. Computer skills are taught for each elementary and middle school class. Students have access to digital cameras, scanners, video cameras, many different computer programs and the internet. It is our goal to teach students appropriate use of technology. Classroom teachers work closely with the computer teacher to integrate classroom instruction with the necessary technology skills.
All of our classrooms are equipped with at least 1 or 2 computers running Windows 7.
Each elementary classroom has 1-4 iPads to enhance instruction and also share a cart of 7 iPads.
Middle school classes share a cart of 60 Chromebooks.
Almost all classrooms use a document camera, allowing them to project a live video feed of anything.
Thanks to a very generous donation, all of our classrooms also have a ceiling-mounted projector hooked up to the computer used to show educational video segments and other material to enhance the students’ education.
Our Computer Lab includes 27 computers running Windows 7. These computers all have flat screen monitors.
Software programs used most often include:
- Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
- Type to Learn (a program designed to teach proper typing technique)
- Google Apps for Education
- World Book online
- Teacher-approved websites to enhance classroom instruction and research
